The Ark Addendum - The Immobilizer (part 1)

Welcome to another edition of The Ark Addendum. I combed through my holdings and found enough models for not one but two outing from The Immobilizer. Sadly, I don't have the Immobilizer itself, but there are some pretty cool models from the episode. My favorite has to be the very Dery-esque board of Jazz's sound and lights show. I wish I'd had that one for the Jazz page in The Ark. Ah, well, perhaps all for the best, his page is pretty tight already.

Thanks Jim, always a pleasure to see more Dery art :)

I second that sentiment. I wonder how active Dery is these days?

For whatever reason, some of the 'tech' between episodes had an inconsistent look. Jazz's light show, Ironhde's liquid nitrogen, Sideswipe's pile drivers are a few examples, but there were others too. Not that this is bad, just weird.

I know your a fan too, but still- thank you very much for being so generous with sharing these model-sheets.

The inconsistent tech might be understandable, though. After all, between improvisation due to materials shortages, time crunches in getting Autobots back onto their feet, and Wheeljack's experimenting with new technology*, I'm sure Ratchet and Hoist would be hard pressed keeping things working, much less consistent.

* "Ahhhh! No! I don't want a new gimmick!" "Aw, come on! I'm pretty sure it won't blow up this time!"

Not to mention the animators not always being on the same page on how to animate the characters. :p

That's certainly true Roadstripe. It does makes me wonder if there might be more then one model-sheet for each gimmick/doohickey the characters used.

I think Roadstripe and Anonymous hit the nail on the head. No doubt the animators literally weren't on the same page. A writer mentioned a gimmick and, given the hectic pace of production, some new model / storyboard was produced to showcase it.
