Hola, amigos! I know it's been a long time since I rapped at you, but I've been HELLA busy with my move to Albuquerque. I love my new home, but between closing the deal and repairing all the minor things wrong with it and unpacking and furnishing it, it's sucked up just about all of my time.
Anyway, it's been a couple of weeks, but I should be back on track for a while as life calms down. So, checking on Martin's tally of my missing model sheets, I come to... APEFACE!
Full disclosure: I don't have the model sheet of his transformation to jet mode. I dunno why, I just don't. I do have both sets for Snapdragon, so look for that soon.
My main memory of Apeface is trying to hunt down a spare gun for him. You see, you can snap his gun into either side of his jet mode, but that seemed awkward to me, so I went ahead and got an extra. The gun isn't perfectly symmetrical, so that doesn't work 100% either, but it was neat at the time. He never got a lot of screen time, but in the Underbase arc he used his own arm to bludgeon another Decepticon into pulp. You gotta love that!

'Twas Marvel US comics #49, as I recall.
During a Starscream-instigated dust-up between Ratbat's and Scorponok's respective Decepticons, the panther Pred Rampage chomps Apeface's gorilla mode arm and tears it off. However, it turns out Apeface's slovenly habits have paid off when Rampage immediately spits out his opponent's arm in disgust. Whereupon Apeface picks up his own arm and proceeds to put the smackdown on Rampage.
Jim, have you ever tried contacting Takara to see what G1 cartoon designs they have in their archives? http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/mp12-lambor-on-display-at-yamashiroya-toy-store/25886/
Well, I have all of the Sideswipe models, but in general no, I haven't been able to coordinate with Takara as much as I'd like. Now, maybe if I had another book coming out that dealt with character models, I might have some luck. I do know that there are Victory backs that I'm missing that still exist in official sources. Some day, who knows, but for right now, it doesn't seem likely.
Ah yes, there were so many TFs in the '87 and '88 lineups that had bad personal hygiene mentioned in their tech specs (and all Cons except Landfill), but here was the only time that actually figured into a story. I frequently bring that scene up when trying to sell friends on reading the whole Marvel run.

How about a multi-volume book collecting colored model sheets? The stuff that's missing could be featured there. :)
