The Ark Addendum - Rodimus Prime's Transformation
This is it; the last Ark Addendum of 2009. This one, by request from commentor Jeff P., is the extended Transformation for Rodimus Prime. I'll admit that it's not one of the more exciting or well thought out transforms, but I suppose it gets the job done. Note that, unlike Optimus, Rodimus' trailer is integrated into his body. Not very well, mind you, but it's in there. Note the odd shading on his models. I suppose it was to attempt to emphasize the most visually interesting aspect of his Transform, which would be the way he springs to his feet. It seems just a bit out of place, though.

You totally made my day. Thanks.
Perhaps they chose to emphasize the way he jumped to his feet to hide the fact that his dimensions change dramatically during the transformation with his legs/trailer shrinking and his torso/cab becoming larger. Mind you, scale has always been a problem in G1 but usually between different robots, not between parts of the same character.
It's weird that the transformation sequence gives him Optimus's crotch detailing, with the headlights, instead of Rodimus's U-dip.
Walky, that's exactly what I was going to say. Also weird that none of the details match up from steps 3 to 4. It's like the attempt wasn't even made.
Heh, this is the most physically impossible transformation I have seen so far! :)
I don't I ever saw his legs forming his trailer.
It's totally improbable, but you have to admit it's just how them robots roll. Awesome model-sheet, more developed line work & different style then most, thanks for posting it. Obviously it was never meant to see the light of day, one of those now you see it now you don't situations...
This reminds me of the petition I wanted to start asking Paramount to make sure the next modern Transformers movie has Rhodiums Prime featured in it. It's about time! Maybe they can even get it right this time...
In The Movie the trailer is folded like a backpack.
